OBIEE Date Expressions(using timestampadd)

    In OBIEE, You can use TIMESTAMPADD function to add an interval to a date.

            First Day of the CURRENT Month:

TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_DAY, -1,TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_MONTH,1,TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_DAY,1,TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_DAY, DAYOFMONTH(CURRENT_DATE)*-1, CURRENT_DATE))))

·        Last Day of Current Month

TIMESTAMPADD( SQL_TSI_DAY , -(1), TIMESTAMPADD( SQL_TSI_MONTH , 1, TIMESTAMPADD( SQL_TSI_DAY , DAYOFMONTH( CURRENT_DATE) * -(1) + 1, CURRENT_DATE)))



·        First Day of the Previous Month

Degenerate Dimension

A degenerate dimension is a dimension that is stored in a fact table or data that is dimensional in nature but stored in a fact table. There may be more than one degenerate dimension inside a fact table.

Ex: 

dimension attributes such as invoice number,order number,invoice id  present in fact table can all be classified as degenerate dimensions.
